Studying the landscape through the lens has given me the opportunity to observe traces of our existence and behavior towards the environment.
The industrial revolution established our presence on planet earth, manifested by our creations, which assisted us to move away from local and isolated, to global and networked.
Our existence relies on the trans-global networks spread around the planet, comparable to the roots of a tree. Communication is of great importance for the evolution of our species, thus we have invested in a substantial amount of resources to bridge the gaps between us.
Information is displacing natural resources, becoming the commodity of the networked age. Air transportation is a small segment of the enormous network.
This project started in April 2012, while travelling in Europe. It attempts to document air transportation infrastructure, classified by visual aesthetics and subject areas.
